Edmonton Sports Talk Joins

Bids for Kids presented by GS Construction was an amazing evening, and we thank everyone for attending on June 19th at The Bell in Scona.

A big thank you to Edmonton Sports Talk's Dustin Nielson, Tom Gazzola and Shawn Belle for donating their time and putting on a great live hot-stove podcast that had everyone in attendance captivated and entertained throughout the show. We were so lucky to have former Oiler Cult Hero, Georges Laraque join the guys on the hot-stove, and be an absolute gem afterwards taking photos with everyone that requested. His stories and opinions had everyone going during the evening, and we're so grateful he accepted our invitation to join.

CBC's Mark Connolly was as always a great host, and kept the evening rolling and on time throughout. Mark, is a former board member, and continues to help push the KidSport Mission forward, and we thank him for hosting the evening.

We had a special guest, Dieu-merci Michel, a former KidSport Kid who shared his family's story and how KidSport enabled him the opportunity to play organized soccer in Edmonton with the BTB Academy. Dieu-merci's passion and dedication has recently led to him signing his first professional contract with Vitoria S.C. B in the Portuguese Soccer Leagues. He is striving to make the jump to the top team which plays in the top league in Portugal. After sharing his story, we passed it on to Reed Clarke, CEO of Sport Edmonton for a cash call that easily met our goal of $6,250! Thank you to Dieu-merci for sharing your story and Reed for leading our cash call on the evening.

A big thanks to our volunteers who were essential to ensure our 50/50, Beer Tree Raffle, Silent Auction, Cash Call, and Check-In all went smoothly throughout the evening. Without your support, events like these would not be possible. ​
